Board of Directors

Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors is composed entirely of family members representing the multiple branches of the Sharp family, ensuring that stewardship of the company remains both deeply personal and broadly inclusive. By maintaining representation across generations and family lines, the Board preserves a shared commitment to the land, legacy, and long-term sustainability that have defined our operations since it's beginnings since 1876.

Board members bring diverse professional expertise spanning agriculture, finance, business management, science, and public service. This range of perspectives strengthens governance, supports sound decision-making, and allows the company to adapt to the evolving realities of modern agriculture while honoring its historic roots.

Together, the Board balances tradition with innovation — safeguarding family ownership, company profitability, promoting responsible land stewardship, and guiding the company with a long-term vision intended to serve both future generations and the communities in which we operate.

Daniel Harte serves as General Manager and is a sixth-generation member of the founding family. Having grown up connected to the operation and worked full-time for nearly six years, he brings both lifelong familiarity and hands-on experience to the role.

Daniel oversees all aspects of day-to-day ranch operations, including irrigation, harvesting, pruning, fertilization, pest management, equipment maintenance, employee training, regulatory compliance, and new orchard development. He holds a B.S. in Managerial Economics with an emphasis in Agribusiness from the University of California, Davis, and previously gained practical experience working on a corn and cherry farm, managing farmers market sales and U-pick events, and operating field equipment.

Active beyond the ranch, Daniel has served as an alternate member of the Hass Avocado Board, contributing to broader industry governance. His current focus is on production — researching and implementing practices that improve efficiency, strengthen orchard performance, and guide strategic transitions, including converting underperforming lemon acreage into avocados in response to changing market conditions.

Daniel believes the success of any farming operation begins with its people. He places strong emphasis on building meaningful relationships with employees across all levels of the organization and fostering a respectful, positive work environment for everyone involved in producing the crop.
